You can generate system-wide reports from one convenient centralized place by clicking ReportingReport Builder in the left navigation menu.

From this menu, you can build OU reports, project reports, user reports, account reports, billing source reports, and funding source reports.

Unified Tagging

cloudtamer.io supports reporting on tags within AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. If you're using more than one of these cloud providers, you can take advantage of cloudtamer.io's unified tagging. Unified tagging means that when you use the same tags across providers, cloudtamer.io will report on them as if they came from one unified source, so your reports give you totals for the tag instead of fragmented results. Note that you can report on tags starting with the date of their creation, and tags are case sensitive (the case must match across cloud providers).

See the "Spend Reports" section below to learn the types of tag-related reports you can generate. For step-by-step instructions on building a report, expand the sections for each object at the end of the article.

Financial Summary

The Financial Summary provides an in-depth look into spend for all OUs and projects under the selected OU. The row-level data is exported as a zipped collection of spreadsheet files that are easy to import into other tracking systems as needed. The report can include data on the monthly spend, payments, spend by service, and spend plan for the report object.

You can download financial summary reports for the following objects:

  • OUs
  • Projects
  • Billing Sources

You can learn how to build financial summary reports in the Building Reports section below.

Spend Reports

Spend Reports allow you to easily visualize your spending by month in a variety of ways. The report output for Spend Reports will display within the application. The results can also be exported.

You can run spend reports for the following objects:

  • Projects
  • OUs
  • Billing sources
  • Funding sources
  • Accounts

You can select either a single object to report on spending for that object alone, or you can select multiple objects/all objects of that type to report on spending across all of them. For example, you can report on spending for a single project, or you can report on spending across multiple projects/all projects within a single report.

At the top of the Spend Report, you'll find a color-coded graph with spending for your selected object(s), which are project(s), OU(s), billing source(s), funding source(s), or account(s), depending on which report you ran. You can click on the individual bars in the chart to drill down on spending for a month. The stacked bars can represent either your selected objects or another reporting factor depending on which Spend View you choose. For example, if you report on all projects and choose the Spend by project view, you'll see stacked bars that break down the total by project. If you report on all projects and choose the Spend by service view, you'll still see spending across all your projects, but the stacked bars will break down the total by service. You can see examples of both of these views below.

Additionally, project reports can display light gray outlines on the graph to show forecasted spending. Forecasted spending can be further broken down by custom forecasting categories.

Below the graph is a Report Summary table showing the total spend for the object(s) you selected by month.

mceclip4.png

Below the Report Summary table, another table shows a breakdown of spend by project, service, account, cloud provider, or tag, depending on the spend view selected. These spend totals are limited to the object(s) you selected for the month displayed.

Some types of spend reports allow you to drill down even further into your data. On these reports, within the Spending by Service or Spending by Tag table, you can click on each amount to further drill down on spending for each month for that service/tag only. Within that month's view, you'll find a Usage Summary tab and a Resource Data tab, which provide more granular breakdowns of spending within a service or tag's monthly spend.

The Usage Summary details the Usage TypeAmount Spent, and the Number of Resources used. You can click on any column name to sort that column from A-Z for text fields, or by value for numeric fields. The column with the caret symbol is the column that is currently sorted;  indicates it is sorted in ascending order, while  indicates descending order.

The Resource Data tab details the Account that used the resource, the Resource ID and Usage Type, and the Cost. It also allows direct access to your cloud provider (CP) via the Account Access button for those who have permission to access the listed accounts. You can use the arrow buttons on the top right to display the next page of results. You can click on any column name to sort that column from A-Z for text fields, or by value for numeric fields. The column with the caret symbol is the column that is currently sorted;  indicates it is sorted in ascending order, while  indicates descending order.
