Using Webhooks

Follow

Webhooks allow you to send data to a web endpoint in JSON format so you can perform actions on an AWS account and extend the functionality of cloudtamer.io. Webhooks make it possible to integrate your existing services and tools with cloudtamer.io to perform actions that are difficult or not available via IAM policies and CloudFormation templates.

Webhooks can be attached to cloud rules as either a pre-rule or a post-rule. Pre-rule webhooks run before CloudFormations. Post-rule webhooks run after CloudFormations. Webhooks do not retry if they fail so it's the responsibility of the webhook owner to ensure the service is highly available.

If a pre-webhook fails, any CFTs or post-webhooks on that cloud rule will NOT be applied. Once a pre-webhook has been fixed, it can be reattempted from the project diagnostics page. Once it succeeds the CFTs will then be applied.

Likewise, if CFTs fail to apply, the post-webhook will not be triggered. Once the CFT has been fixed, it can be reattempted from the project diagnostics page. Once it succeeds, the post-webhook will trigger.

To learn more about webhooks, see the Handling a Webhook (requires login; learn more here) and Webhook Behavior articles. If you're ready to add a webhook, see the Add a Webhook article.
