Add a Financial Enforcement Action to a Funding Source

We don't generally recommend setting financial enforcement actions at the funding source level. When you set enforcements at the funding source level, every project attached to that funding source will be affected if one project overspends. However, if this is not an issue for your organization, enforcement actions can be set at the funding source level.

To add a financial enforcement action to a funding source:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Financials > All Funding Sources.
  2. Click the name of the funding source to which you'd like to add a financial enforcement action.
  3. Click the Enforcements tab.
  4. Click Add.
  5. In the Manage Enforcement modal that appears, fill out the fields. These timeframes and values apply to projects attached to this funding source and their individual spending.
    1. Under Trigger, select a timeframe, which determines the length of time during which the trigger will apply.
      • Monthly: Accrued amount since the first day of the month.
      • Yearly: Accrued amount since the first day of the year. If a project was created this year, it will count from the first day of the month when the project is created.
      • Lifetime: Amount accrued since the first day of the month when a project was created.
    2. In the Select a spend option drop-down box, choose what you'll be measuring (spend or remaining):
      • Spend: The dollar amount that has been spent in the selected timeframe.
      • Remaining: The dollar amount that is remaining for the selected timeframe.
    3. Set the amount in dollars.
    4. Under Events, select an optional cloud rule that will run when triggered.
    5. Set the Overburn toggle to ON to add a badge and yellow coloring when the trigger's conditions are met.
    6. Terminate toggle (deprecated) - Please read the section titled What Are Terminate Actions? before applying this. This toggle only appears in version 2.19.x and lower.
    7. Under Notifications, set any users and user groups that should be notified when the enforcement is triggered.
    8. Enter an optional Description for the enforcement.
  6. Click Save
